Hydrological Atlas of Switzerland – Plate 4.2

Net radiation is the difference between total radiation falling upon and reflected by the Earth’s surface (incoming and outgoing radiation). Net radiation is a decisive factor in relation to evaporation. In general real evaporation is around 60 to 80 % of the maximum potential evaporation calculated from net radiation.
